Ans : Your insurance coverage takes effect once premium payment is made at AMI or any of AYA bank branches.

Comprehensive Motor Insurance

Q: What should I do when there is an accident?
Ans : Below actions to be taken during an accident
1. Do not panic. Keep calm and immediately call AMI Claim Hotline: 09-429305224, provide information to our Claim Officers.
2. Take photos of accident scene, damages of all involving vehicles/ properties before being removed.
3. Report the accident to police and get police statement if two or more vehicles and/or if personal injury or death is involved in the accident.
4. Do not admit fault, Do not offer or pay or accept cash for settlement (If you do so, AMI may discharge you from indemnity).
5. Do not argue with other parties as AMI’s staff(s) will assist you.
6. Follow suggestion of AMI Claim Officers.

Q: How do I purchase Comprehensive Motor Insurance?
Ans : You will need to complete the proposal form (downloadable) and submit it to AMI at info@ami-inusrance.com or call our customer service team at 09-977373000.

Q: What do I need to purchase/ apply for Comprehensive Motor Insurance?
Ans : When getting Comprehensive Motor Insurance, you’ll need to provide the following copy documents:
1. Owner Book
2. Wheel Tax
3. Driving license
4. Agreement letter

Q: What is covered under a Comprehensive Motor Insurance?
Ans : Own Damage (Collision) , Third party liability

Q: What is Comprehensive Motor Insurance?
Ans : Comprehensive Motor Insurance is essentially the financial coverage sought for vehicle in the unfortunate event of any accident.

Fire Insurance

Q: What should I do when face with an unfortunate incident causing damage to my insured property?
Ans : Actions to be taken:
1. Do not panic. Keep calm and immediately call AMI Claim Hotline: 09-49305224, provide information to our Claim Officers
2. Take photos of the incident and damages.
3. Report the incident to Fire station and obtain official documents from the Fire Station
4. Do not remove or move any items
5. Follow instruction of AMI Claim Officers.

Q: Can I buy additional cover?
Ans : An extensive gives additional cover for risks not stated in basic policy. Some additional covers are recommended on the type of construction situation and occupation.
1. Riot fire, Riot strike damage including fire and malicious damage (0.06%)
2. Aircraft damage (0.06%)
3. Impact damage (0.10%)
4. Subsidence and landslide (0.10%)
5. Earth-quake fire, fire and shock damage caused by Earth-quake (0.10%)

Ans : Fire policy cover physical damage to your property arising from the following perils;

Q: Who can purchase/ apply for Fire Insurance?
Ans : Fire Insurance policy can be purchased by anyone who is a legal owner of the property and has insurable interest.

Q: What do I need to purchase/ apply for Fire Insurance?
Ans :
• A completed proposal with details of your property to be insured
• Fire safety plan
• Site layout/ plan

Q: What is Fire Insurance?
Ans : Fire insurance provides protection against damage to property caused by accident due to fire, lightening or explosion.

Q: Is it valid the loss/damage due to explosion caused by gas used for domestic purpose?
Ans : Yes.

Q: Are stocks are insurable under Burglary coverage and can be purchased separately?
Ans : Yes.

Q: Are buildings are insurable with market value?
Ans : No, there will be calculation based on actual value depending on PAE value and age of property.

Q: Are stocks are insurable based on selling prices?
Ans : Yes.

Q: Should premium be paid with installment or lump sum?
Ans : Premium should be paid with lump sum amount.

Q: When is the policy inception date?
Ans : The policy becomes active once the premium is paid.

Marine Insurance

Q: Apart from insuring the transport goods (by vessels, cargo barges, oil barges) through inland waterways, what else can be insured?
Ans : Goods transporting along the coast of Myanmar can be insured (Myeik, Kaut Thaung, Sittwe, Buthidaung, Maungtaw: Tanintharyi Coast and Rakhine Coast., etc)

Q: Is there any time limit when insuring the transport goods on a voyage policy?
Ans : No time limit for a voyage policy.
Example – the policy will be in place for the duration of the specified voyage (let’s say from Yangon to Myeik) irrespective of the time it takes. The coverage will start from the time they leave the Yangon port (departure port), until the goods arrive at the Myeik Port (arrival port).

Q: Under which conditions does the policy provide coverage for transport of goods by road or sea?
Ans :
• On a sea voyage, the policy will provide the coverage for the total loss of goods transporting by vessels, cargo barges, and oil barges in case of vessel capsizing or such events.
• Similar as above, goods transporting by road will be covered for the total loss during transit.

Q: Does the cargo insurance cover for natural disasters?
Ans : Cargo insurance usually covers goods for things like lightning, hurricanes, flash floods, and volcanic eruption.

Q: What are the various perils covered under Marine Cargo Insurance?
Ans :
• On a sea voyage, Collision or contact of vessel craft or conveyance with any external object other than water, Fire or explosion and any other perils covered under the Institute Cargo Clauses (C).
• During inland transit, Overturning or derailment of land conveyance, Fire or Explosion and any other perils covered under the Institute Cargo Clauses (C).

Q: What are the requirements when Obtaining Marine Cargo Insurance (both for sea voyage and inland transit)?
Ans :
• Commercial Invoice for the valuation of goods to be insured
• Packing List
• Driver License Copy, Wheel Tax, Commercial Operator Vehicle License (for inland transit)
• Certification of master and crew, lists of crew, respective licenses for the carrying vessels (for sea voyage)
• Complete proposal form

Q: What kinds of cargoes can be insured and what are the ratings?

Q: What is the monsoon condition?
Ans : Monsoon condition is from 1st May to 15th October. It is especially for the coastal shipping. This condition does not apply to inland transit and inland waterways shipping as the coastal shipping during monsoon is riskier.

Q: What is the port overdue fee?
Ans : There may be a number of conditions where the carrying vessel/vehicle cannot depart at the proposed shipping date and time. Port Overdue fee must be paid to cover the delay period. Port Overdue fee is 10% of the basic premium.

Q: What do I do when the goods carrying vessel/vehicle stop running and couldn’t proceed to the destination?
Ans : In such cases, insured goods must be transferred to another in order to proceed to the destination. Such transshipments must be immediately informed to the insurance company providing the necessary documents of the transshipment carrier so that the policy can be endorsed. (Loss or Damage to the insured goods during transshipment is not covered by the policy).
Without endorsements, the coverage for the goods may be denied in the event of a claim.

Q: How many kinds of policy in Marine Hull Insurance?

For Steel Hull, Premium ratings are based on the age of vessels.

Q: Can the Fibre/Glass Hull be insured under Hull Insurance?
Ans : Yes, Fiber/Glass can be insured under Hull Insurance by Wooden Hull ratings.

Q: Is the Hull Insurance All Risk Cover?
Ans : The policy provides All Risk Cover for Steel Hull and Total Loss Only for Wooden Hull. (Only inland vessels can be insured but not overseas vessels)

Q: What is a Total Loss?
Ans : There are two types of Total Loss; actual total loss and constructive total loss.
The Actual total loss means the insured vessel that is completely damaged or lost and irretrievable as a result of insured perils, under this circumstances the insured is entitled to recover the full amount of the loss from the insurer.
There is a constructive total loss when;
In the case of damage to a ship, where it is damaged to the extent that the cost of repairing the damage would exceed the value of the ship when repaired.
The expenditure on the repairs/replacement of ships is above 90%. If the insured meets the requirements for a constructive total loss, then he may claim for a total loss of vessel.

Q: Can a vessel under a charter be insured under Hull Insurance Policy?
Ans : Yes, a vessel under a charter can be insured if the charter party provided.

Health Insurance

Q: Does the proposer require to make medical checkup before purchasing Health Insurance?
Ans: No, the proposer only requires to disclose all material facts in the duly filled proposal form.

Q: What benefit does the insured get for death due to disease while getting treatment at the hospital?
Ans: The benefits for both hospital cash and death due to disease can be paid.

Q: Can the insured get hospital cash benefits if the hospitalization benefits in overseas?
Ans: No. You cannot get hospital cash.

Q: Can the insured get the hospital cash for visiting any Government registered Hospitals?
Ans: Yes.

Q: How can I purchase for Health Insurance?
Ans: The proposer can purchase Health Insurance with the duly filled proposal form and declare all material facts.

Q: Which diseases are included in Critical illness treatment?
Ans: First time cancer, Myocardial infract and stroke are included in Critical illness treatment.

Travel Insurance

Q: Can foreigner purchase Travel insurance?
Ans: Yes.

Q: If the passenger dies due to pre-existing conditions/diseases on the trip, can the passenger enjoy the death benefit?
Ans: No.

Q: How does the insured inform if the accident occurs?
Ans: The insured needs to inform within 7 days from the date of accident.

Q: How can the insured benefit for total permanent disability due to accident?
Ans: Sum Insured amount will be paid as lump sum to beneficiary depends on type of travel insurance and numbers of units purchased.

Q: For overseas travel, are there any limitations on countries for travel insurance?
Ans: No.
